im not sure on this, ive heard people talk about it but noone actually confirmed.
im doing a new install sometime this week, and this would be very fast and easy

Unfortunately, this will not work.  Ghost does not understand the Xbox files system.  It has no way to transfer it.

I have successfully cloned an 80Gb disk onto the same size hard disk.  I used disk lite pro...info is available in the tutorials...but it took a while to run (17 hours or so)...

The problem with cloning a disk onto a larger disk is that the f: partition cannot (as far as I know) be resized to make the increased f: partition space available for use without wiping the contents of the just created f: partition

Yeah, I can see how it wouldn't be easy or possible to change the F: partition.  The only thing I don't like about the disk lite pro is that you say it takes 17 hours compared to ghost taking a few minutes.  i'm sure people have tried adding a 7th partition to cover the new extra space on a new hdd.  Wonder if that would work.  Thanks

OKay. Let's say I have a 120ishGb HDD

1. Could I make it so I'm only utilising say 119Gb (don't mind about wiping F partition)

2. Then would it be possible to Ghost this drive onto another 120Gb HDD and only lose the 1Gb?

If both are "yes" then I could make my drive 119Gb and if I ever wanted to replace the hard disk with a different make/model/speed I could easily clone it.

All help appreciated

get a nice little sdlt tape drive.  the are fast and hold ~ 320 gigs/tape.  of course they will set you back a pretty penny which is why i only have one at work at not at home.... at home i am stuck with only a hp 1200e :/
