biggrin.gif  My next release will have to be a bit more impoved.

At the moment, I'm looking at finishing auto-config, cleaning up the remaining skinnable items, random local soundtrack, screenshot image cache (for speed) and maybe fixing the PersistDisplay() issue.

I'd like to have those issues resolved for a 1.0 release.

Thankfully, here in the "States", I'll have time this week with Thanksgiving coming up.

I'd have to see what your ini file looks like.

You could try testing this out with a CD-RW, to save time and effort, as well (that's how I test before releasing now).

Hopefully, I'll work out some means to keep the "main" resources with the XBE file, which means using the system will be easier.

At the moment, in the root directory of the disk, you need the default.xbe, the mxm.ini, and whatever images you are using for screen shots.

In the Media subdirectory, you need the font and resource.xpr files.

Finally, you need at least one skin subdirectory.

I have not tried this with a single entry, I'll have to take a look tonight.

I am having a similar problem to websteria. My XBOX just sits at the XBOX logo screen for about 40 seconds then boots to EvoX...

I have been making the directories needed, editing the .ini files, and then creating an xISO. Are there known problems when creating an xISO of the Media X Menu directories?

Should I just burn it as a data disc?

It boots consistently with 0.8 and an XDFS CD-RW.

I had some problems with the older versions, thanks to a boneheaded bug...

Inconsistency would be caused by something not getting initialized, and if it's still happening in 0.8, I'll have to examine the code more closely. Hopefully all those problems were squashed after 0.5.

I am using crappy Princo DVD-R media, but that media works with regular ISO backups. I have burned the media x menu files to a CD-RW and that worked fine and dandy (except for there being nothing to play on it of course.)

I guess I am befuddled by the descrepancy between xISO and media x menu working with CD-RW, xISO and media x menu not working with my DVD-R, and xISO working with DVD-R no made with media x menu.

The logic there fails somewhere...

Does media x menu have trouble with high amounts of data? I think my disc was 3.99GB.

Thanks again. Surely a great product being ruined by an idiot like myself.

Well, as I said, if it's an older version, there might be a problem.

I burn my DVD-Rs with UDF, just out of convenience (saves an extra step), and only had a similar problem when running the older version of the program.

I'll recheck the code, though, just to make sure I didn't forget something somewhere.

Just out of curiosity.. how is the video coming along? What format will
MXM be supporting when it works?

I've been using MXM off the Hdd since  beta 3.. and it works great..
keep up the good work..

                -Marcux

Well, it will be nice to have the extended weekend to look at the video code, and I have some limited debug capability now, since I can send messages via the network connection now.

Hopefully, my problem is relatively simple. What I can tell at the moment is that the format the video is laid out in may be the problem.... that always seems to give the Xbox routines fits, even though it's supposedly supported.

I'll add that to my list of "try to finish for 1.0" items.

Ben Jeremy,

sorry to have left out the important fact of what verison I am using. It is the Beta 7 release.

I also had the problem of the nasty error if an image was not used, but I just edited the ini for that graphic to be 0 x 0 and used a blank 1px x 1px .png file and it worked fantastic. Just a little weak minded man's work-around

I can use the program from the harddrive to boot stuff, so I know the settings are all good, but burning it to a DVD-R has been giving me problems.

thanks for your time and effort.

E-Mail me with your MXM.ini file pasted in. I'll take a look at it - if you can, give me a listing of your directory contents, too.

Thanks.

BTW: 0.8 doesn't give the nasty pop-up message anymore, just a "Screenshot not available" text in a dark blue box in place of the image.

I shall email my file when I return to my homefront this afternoon. I love sitting in computer labs at school and reading the forums and theonion.com in between classes.

I burned my multiDVD using UDF as RAW data and it works fine.

It just takes forever to load games, and I get a lot of dirty disc errors. But overall this is an excellent program and a cool way to archive games that I do not play as much anymore. Otherwise I can just boot them from my HDD.

THANKS A MILLION! GREAT HOMEBREW PROGRAM!
