Media X Menu 0.4
« on: November 17, 2002, 08:51:00 PM »

Find it in the usual places on usenet.

Alpha 0.4
* More bug fixes! Didn't realize that C:, E:, and F: were unmounted, causing
problems when the image files didn't "live" in the directory below the
menu system and get called as "D:\***" This problem is now fixed.
* Changed option "Theme" in section [Main] to "Style" This will represent the
type of menu displayed (simple, or in the future, 3-D styles)
* Smooth scrolling menu items and descriptions.
* Menus and description placement are fully configurable. Defaults to MenuX style,
to be compatible with existing MenuX skins. Now menus, screenshots, and the
description can be placed anywhere on the screen and in just about any size.
You can also select the maximum number of options displayed at any given time
(that is, how many item rows are displayed in the menu item box)

QUOTE (Weavus @ Nov 18 2002, 08:18 AM)
Hi!

Thanks for the great program. I'm making a theme for myself that shows boxshots at 350x460 on the right with the list and description on the left.

I have a few feature requests though....

Game Genre Field (Allow this to be sorted/cycled using the right trigger)
Game Release Date Field (Allow this to be sorted/cycled using the left trigger)
Game Publisher Field
Number of Players Field

2nd picture field. As I am using the first one for a boxshot I would like a second one to show a screenshot that can be positioned elsewhere. ( a really nice feature would be the ability to define a number of screen shots and the program cycles through them with a nice fade transition )

And a few questions...

Can you make multi-line descriptions? I.E have line breaks in the description to space it out a bit?

Can you comment out lines in the ini file?

Thanks again...

I'll take those under consideration.... it would be nice to offer more information available to display for each game, but the sorting options might be handled under a different "style" than 'simple'; perhaps we could have a 'list' style to do that sort of thing.

As for multiple pictures, I'll have to think on that one... there certainly are a lot of possibilities. I intend on getting WMVs working wherver you can put images, and it should be very slick when I get that working!

Only one-line descriptions  are supported at the moment, basically due to positioning issues. Like the multi-screenshot issue, there are a lot of possibilities to consider regarding this.

Comments should be fine in ini files, as long as they are semicolons int he very first character of the line.

biggrin.gif  , Well anyway I installed the MXM 0.4 . It seems to only let me put a list of only 9 items in the mxm.ini file. ex;

[Item_1]
Title=
Description=
Media=
Dir=

[Item_9]
Title=
Description=
Media=
Dir=

Now if I go beyound that  item_9 and put an item_10 , It locks up.  mad.gif
Is there a way to add more than 9 items in the ini file? uhh.gif  I have a lot more than 9 games for my BOX.  Can some one please help me with this issue.  sad.gif

I will test this tonight....I don't see any obvious reason for it to lock up, but I haven't tested it beyond 8 items yet.

QUOTE (schlicky @ Nov 19 2002, 02:48 PM)
Hey Ben - great program !  I'm slowly getting the hang of it...  Although I have a couple of quickie questions.  On the Example ini, for [Music] I wanted to play a single file of the DVD called SW.WMA, but it seems to play the XBox's stored music files.  I'm wondering if I have set it up correctly.  In the example ini file, under that section, it lists True as being on.  So, do I use True or do I use On ?

I'm also using your very cool LCars template, and was wonder it it was possible to put the LCars font in the media directory ?

Lastly, the listing at the top of the screen seems small, where, how can I increase that ?

Thanks for all your help !  All we need now is a GUI   biggrin.gif

Schlicky

                                    Try setting:

[Music]
Global=off

To disable the global track.

As for fonts, theoretically, if you have an LCARS font in *.xpr format (Packed resource), you could try and rename it to "font16" and replace the one in the media directory, but if it's not packed, it won't work. This is done using a tool in the XDK. Even then, it may or may not work....   unsure.gif

As for the small print, that's a side-effect of trying to squeeze the fonts used along with the size of the entries into a small area. You could go into the [Menu] settings and fiddle with them. If you don't need to see entries above and below the 'selected' entry, you could change "Items=3" to "Items=1" under [Menu] as well, giving the entries more space for display.

I found a bug in the code that was causing some seemingly unrelated bizarre situations. It is fixed, and 0.5 will be released soon.

I simply have to wrap up a few things before I can get it out.
