Development And Modchip, Is This Ok ?
« on: November 10, 2002, 03:39:00 PM »

Well, technically, just about any decent mod chip will work, but I would NEVER order a modchip that won't list its capacity - it's probably just a 256kb chip, which means it will not run the Debug BIOS.

The Debug BIOS isn't required to develop (I don't use one at the moment), but can be EXTREMELY helpful, since it allows you to do full remote debugging of your applications, thereby not left guessing when you hit an exception or some funky bug.

Wait for the X-ecutor 2, looks like it will be slick. The only thing I'm confused over on the chip is if it will support 2x512k BIOSes, since it supports 4x256k BIOSes, but doesn't specifically say it will support 2x512 (it lists 1x1MB, 1x512KB and 4x256KB).

Technically, whatever switches they are using for the 4x BIOS switching, should also handle 2x512 switching. That would be a nice feature for developers (switch between 512k X2 and 512k Debug)
