This topic should have been left ot wither on the vine.

Virii are bad. End of story.

Let's not talk of this again, lest a script kiddie get an idea.

Sure it would be different but I'm almost sure file handling and memory managing is not much different, thus making this very possible.

I just hope I will be the first one to do it.

I think doing something similar to the update.xbe file plus some extras isn't too hard.

I thought that there would have been a virus for the xbox by now.

There could be a time bomb virus that we all have already and as there is no virus checker for the xbox we are all in the dark until it strikes!! jester.gif

I guess that I am kind of curious to know why you would ask a question like this, why you would make a virus for the xbox, and whose xbox would you test it on?

pleh........You say you don't have any money but then you say it's only money, that's pretty funny.  I like to protect things that I invest in.  Not only money, but also time.  I don't want some script kiddie firing up a shit virus that wipes my eeprom or blanks out my bios.  I don't live life through posessions, I just like to enjoy life with the posessions that I own.  Your name is socrates, you should understand that.  I gain utility through not having a virus destroy my hardware.

Dankydoo   :
Well as I said above, I just program those for fun, I mean how much cash to you think i've made doing viruses for win ? NOTHING.

It's all about doing things you like.

And why would  I make a virus for the xbox ? Well why wouldn't I do so?

And for sure, I know what I program and remember that there's not really any virus that actually fucks your hardware up so testing it on my xbox wouldn't bother me at all.

If you only knew how much times I had to reinstall windows on my 2nd pc.

Fine, experiment on your xbox, you CAN easily destroy your/any xbox with a simple application (if you knew what you were doing).  Do it for fun, that's fine if it's your hobby or to learn, but to intentionally destroy someone else's property for your enjoyment isn't what I hope you want.

QUOTE (jsm @ Oct 24 2002, 02:11 AM)
Well just wondering, as I have done alot of viruses for win, if it where possible to put a virus in a xbe file, cause as far as I can see xbe files are like exes... Not that I want to screw all of your xboxes but I just like to do viruses, it's my hobby.

Not to worry doh, i don't have an sdk yet... but It would be greatly apreciated to have it from someone that has it and has the same hobby as I do.

Just pm me. muhaha.gif

If you do have these programming skills and are above the age of 14 (which somehow I doubt, as your facination is quite sophomoric) you might want to consider putting those talents to use for something that would benefit a lot of people here and elsewhere.

Say:

An FTP CLIENT for the Xbox w/resume support
An FTP SERVER for the Xbox w/resume support
A better DVD/SVCD/VCD/DIVX player with ISO9600 support
etc.
etc.
etc.

Remember that this would be "sticking it to" MS etc in a much bigger way since they HATE this stuff! Where as users love it.

MS would LOVE an XBOX virus since it would only affect MOD chip users. If they could they would write one themselves and release it.

Now you want to do their bidding?
