Verticle Xbox...............

NO!

This if defo not practical.  CD were for instance never meant to be played in the vert. position. But if you don't intend to use the CD drive in the vert. position - then I see nothing wrong with it.  PC motherboards are vertical inside tower cases f'rinstance.

hmm I contradict myself don't I?

Yeah, but a pc motherboard doesn't have to hold up a disc by gravity now does it?

Another problem is cooling.

Standing the Xbox up covers the bottom vents.

Am I the only one that has actually bothered to read the original post?

He said nothing about turning his xbox on its side.

"any problems with having the xbox board in the verticle posititon?"

Hmmm. Somehow I'll have to go back and learn the english language again. Darned... the above DOES NOT mean he wants the box to be Verticle instead of horizontal....

I must have -ALL- of my directions backwards as well....

Hi....

Thanx for your posts...Like I said I have this really sweet tower, and I want to mount the board in the verticle posistion..NOT the onboard dvd-rom I will keep that flat and sitt'n pretty..My main concern however is the controller port to the daughter-board..."not much slack"...Also Ferrall mentioned if the ide cables are too long...How long is too long...? He say's 12 inch's, while mine right now are 24"....and she works a dream...?what I am ask'n here is...(1) ..." Are the wirez coming from the daughter board easy to extend...? If-so what awg wire is recomended...?"...(2) And If this ide cable has some flexabillity....anyhow so far-so good...I thank-you in advance for your advice.... biggrin.gif

Not a bad idea.

Add one of those IDE switchboxes and no more need for those crazy (and risky) multi-disk connections people are trying in another thread.

If he guts his Xbox, there is not any reason that this would not all work.

Come to think of it, I think someone did something like this a long while back.. put an xbox, ps2, snes, nes, etc. all into a computer case. Don't know who, or where to find it, but you could search on the web.

I remember that too, it was pretty sweet. I think it was called YoshiBox or something.

YUP.  Yoshi, one of the Anchors/Producers of the Screensavers on TECH TV US / CAN put Six Consoles in one PC, piped most of the consoles Video to an ATI TV type Card.

Looked like hell, but when you have a cable stations wallet, and time to burn.... smile.gif

I tried it, but found the same problem that your talking about, the wires from the dvd drive were to short and if i turned the mother board the other way around to give the dvd drive more room for reach then the controller ports were to far away, so i gave up.not my thing.
Anyways heres a link to the info on the guy who did the same thing your trying to do, he calls his,
Yoshi's Boxx
