ok so I am curious if anyone out there has made one for xbox or pc or anything. I am talking about making an actual arcade machine....I would love as much info as I can get.

I have a old non-working arcade game.....Jungle King (crapiest game around) and I gutted it and everything....The only part I am not sure about is if I would be better of wiring buttons and joysticks I have and figure out how to make them work with the xbox or if i should go with the x-arcade stick and install that in the box.....xgaming.com is where that is at.

And has anyone used the x-arcade stick yet???? I would like to know if it is a good setup. Besides that I am just gonna have an empty box make a secure spot where I can put my xbox and hook it into a monitor and the joypads? is this all I would need for this setup? Anything else I should do to enhance this setup? any input would be greatly appriciated and I mean any:)

I saw a link to an Xbox arcade machine a few weeks ago.

The guy was originally using a PC, but then went with an Xbox instead.

He had a custom controller set up with it. It looked very nice.

I created a PC arcade machine and made custom joysticks out of a keyboard.  It would probably work for running Mame from your XBOX, too, if Mame supports a keyboard.  If you need any help "hacking the keyboard", let me know.  It isn't difficult, just time consuming.

M3_del -

The coin-ups are pretty simple to do.  Tou need to find the contacts that register the coin inserting and wire them to the appropriate button.  My MAME cabinet does that, and I have the coin inputs wired to keyboard keys (IIRC) 5 and 6.

Don't know about the controller for the Xbox though.  That's going to require some more detailed customization.   I'm sure it can be done, though.

For a keyboard, since the signals are not discrete in a normal keyboard, it's easier to use an encoder module like this one:

Some of the cabinet sites are already posting electronic wiring diagrams for Xbox mame cabinets.... heh.

That guy has a ridiculous button configuration.

                                    Yes in a way.

Now that the Xarcade stick is available, why wire the way he did?

I'd just buy one of the Xarcade controllers & strip off the bottom. Instant cabinet controller!
