Xbox Console Recovery Disc
« on: June 15, 2002, 09:27:00 AM »

I read in a forum once about some guy that had his xbox repaired and when he recieved it back this disc was in the console. I think he scanned teh disc in to show people it said recovery disc or something.

I doubt the thing could be done the opposite way .

Not only does the recovery disc attempt to reformat the drive, it also attempts to flash the BIOS.  I ran the recovery disc in a modded XBOX to see wat would happen.  What happened?  It attempted to flash to BIOS, failed miserably, and left me with a completely unworkable XBox.  When I turn on the XBox now, it just flashes red/green.  If anyone has any methods of recovering from this, puh-leeze let me know.

I may be wrong, but shouldn't you be able to either just replace your chips with a new one, or replace it with a homebrew chip.  If it messed up while trying to flash the bios and messed up your mod just replace the mod, or in fact take out the mod and see if it works. rolleyes.gif

I could definatley understand why the retail console wouldn't be THAT easy to flash.... but has anyone tried it ??? One guy above said he tried on a modded...

Okay better yet... How hard is it to make a flash program ??? I'm guessing it can be THAT tough cause every company in that industry has one.  So... why not a flash program for Xtenders and Homebrews ??? I'de like that alot more then seeing a new Xtender version and having to open up the box, open up my computer, flash, and close it all up agian... Just my thoughts

it doesnt matter even if m$ does put something into their games.  just play off the backup of that game because im sure ripping groups will find out how to take that off, or maybe they can make a patching tool.
