xboxdrv is an userspace Xbox/Xbox360 USB gamepad driver for Linux still in active development.

Mad Catz Xbox 360 controller support
Hori Real Arcade Pro Ex support
Pelican TSZ360 pad
Saitek P3200 pad
Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power
Harmonix Drum Kit for Xbox 360
Logitech Chillstream

Xbox1 gamepads, Xbox360 USB gamepads and Xbox360 wireless gamepads

Uses libusb

are you saying that there is a working driver for 3rd party wired xbox controllers?  it would be great to use my pelican on my xbox, since alll of my xbox controllers have a jacked up wire from being wrapped up/around the controller.

any support known for gamestop controllers yet?

and if this does give support for 3rd party controllers, how can i install this driver so it will auto detect at boot?

I don't have personal experience with the tool. The website should have the necessary details. A quick google revealed some Ubuntu tips on usage of the tool.
