I reinstalled xdsl and this time ypgraded the display with xorg.
Now I just need to know how to prevent it from happening again.

Hi,
Sorry about the wrong information, but the finnish keyboard drivers do exist (öÖäÄ厧 Iäm using xdsl right now). just select fi-latin1 instaed of fi. If this doesänt work, issue the command dumpkeys and try again.

Thanks for fielding some of these questions scuba  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I am thinking the display problem might lie with using the i.6 screen fix which uses two displays along with xfree86. Maybe I can write that in the screen fix install script as the geometry can be adjusted in xfree86 anyway.

Update: I tryed to replicate the display problem but could not do it, it all worked fine.  misfits138, could you talk me through the steps you took to get the error, then I will do the same and hopefully get the same error.

Cheers Steve.

Oh one more thing I spotted a bug. The directory /usr/share/ghostscript/fonts should be named  Type1   . Then you get lots of nice fonts in firefox 2 and flash 9.

Well it happend last night with xorg too. Is the 1.6 screen fix on by default? I never enabled it last night.

I'll reinstall xdsl later on and see if I can get the error by doing specific things but it seemed to happen at random.

Just an update on that whole Ram/swap problem. After installing xFree86, the swap quickly filled to about 10-20% usage (on a 64mb swap) in just a few seconds. It seems as though when I was using Xorg, or just stock display drivers, the swap couldn't fill. I guess xFree86 must've fixed, or broke something.

Ok I got the error again without upgrading the display and this time I got it the 3 rd time I booted up the fresh install.

I got this Xbox maybe 3 months after release and it has a matrix modchip.

I put xdsl on the xbox via ftp to partition E. The res is set to 800x600. I then do a 600mb loopback install on the F partition with a 300mb swap file.
I boot the loopback install in 640x480 and upgrade firefox2 + the program it needs to run... forgot the name, sound, flash 9, and enable 1.6 display fix.
I restart my xbox and xdsl 3 times (pushing the power button on the Xbox to exit xdsl) and the third time I get the error.

thats most likely your problem, your not exiting XDSL correctly, which leaves behind any .lock files and can corrupt files too. you MUST turn the xbox off by doing a right click on the dashboard and selecting exit, or by typing 'sudo halt' at a command line.

I have a problem.
As you can see here
http://i31.tinypic.com/inadqo.jpg
Picture is little off the screen (left).

I am using Xbox 1.5, Microsoft HDTV cables (component), and 720p Panasonic plasma. 2 questions:
1.   How can I center picture
2.   How can I set  1024*720 resolution in 16:9 mode (1.25 horizontal pixel aspect ratio (withc is native plasma resolution))

Tnx!

Hi,
You could also just adjust your tv. I just hit the auto adjust button on my monitor and it usually centers. Also try xfree86, it is easier to play with the gometry than xfbset. Oh also you could try the 1.6 fix, you need to get rid of the border option and adjust the geometry in /home/dsl/xinitrc1.6.

to get the right geometry values, open any app and expand it to take up the whole screen. Then move it around by grabbing the top bar. you will see the geometry values appear on the screen when you do this, which you can write down. This can save a lot of time.

zver:
try these geometry values in /home/dsl/.xinitrc1.6 line 10

CODE
/usr/bin/Xnest -bw 20 -geometry 1238x718+40+0 :1 &

Then run xbox1.6 screen fix
