I need to download a torrent file which is 4.3gb using xebian/bittorrent. xebian is installed on my e: and the file system is 2gb and i have 30gb free of f: but i cant save the file to f: because of fatx. is there a way to make a virtual ext3 partition on f: so i can save the file?

You could make a virtual ext3 partition on f using a loopback file but the size of the loopback file and thus the ext3 partition would still be limited by the maximum file size.

Your options appear to be:
  • Format F: as ext3 / some other filesystem without a 4gb limit.
  • Make two (or more) loopback files, each as big as possible. Using logical volume manager you can treat them as a single partition. You can then make the partition as big as you like by having more loopback files.

wish I knew how to disable the 2 gig filesize limits of xdsl.... its really kinda lame.
Im native, and cant have a file bigger than 2 gigs, almost like some kinda windows restriction, but its not, its linux.
