Correcting Overscan And Mounting Linux

I have a v1.6 xbox, avalaunch dash, and xecuter 3 chip witha 120gb hard drive.   How can i stop overscan? I did read the sticky and it makes no sense. can someone walk me threw it? also need help mounting linux to the hard drive.
