I have an older Thomson DVD drive, and it can't read burned cd's. So, is there any way to install linux? The only distro that I could find that you could just ftp to the xbox was X-DSL.
So, is there any way?

X-DSL and Gentoox can be installed using FTP. Xebian can't be unfortunately. Not sure about the other distros. You may be able to install Xebian using a USB key drive - the code is there for it but I've never seen anyone try. Or if you install Xebian on another Xbox with the CD you can FTP the installation from one Xbox to another. Also have you tried cd-rw / dvd-r?
