Getting Linux To Run (tested With X-dsl & Xebian)
« on: June 26, 2006, 08:51:00 PM »

Ok I had a problem where my xbox's led would flash green and the fan would rev loudly then it would turn off the xbox... alright if you have this problem, read below.

NOTE: THIS HAS ONLY BEEN PROVEN ON SOFT-MODDED BOXES, SHOULDN'T NEED IT WITH HARD MODS

1. Get Krayzie's UXE softmod package from xbins
2. Uninstall old softmod and install Krayzie's UXE
3. Get yourself a copy of linux from www.xbox-linux.org
4. Burn to a DVD using Nero
5. Go to the settings of your dashboard (I'm using UnleashX right here), find the video settings and turn off all HD settings.
6. Reboot xbox
7. Pop the dvd/cd of linux in and launch it
8. Usually at this part the Flashing LED, Loud Fan, Shuts off Xbox Problem would occur, but instead it runs the version of linux you launched.

Now before you complain to me that it doesn't work or creates more problems. Look at some info:

DASHBOARD: UnleashX
SOFTMOD: Krayzie's UXE
CABLES USED: MS HD Pack
LINUX USED: Xebian & X-DSL

I just changed my softmod back to Krayzie's Ndure 1.1 and turned off the cables... but it still get the problem, so for me, Krayzie's UXE only works.

Yeah well that's the combination that works for me at least. I guess a process of elimation would be able to figure out what's wrong.
