X-dsl V0.4
« on: September 10, 2005, 01:23:00 PM »

A new X-DSL release is now out. It can be downloaded from the xbox-linux sourceforge site.

The changes are

QUOTE
- Based on Damn Small Linux 1.5
- Checks to prevent the install scripts trying to install to a read only partition
- With a loopback/native install the root filesystem is now initially mounted ro (needed to allow fsck to check for errors).
- Can now specify the path of the rootfs the loopback install should use with the cheatcode rootfs_name=

Large DSL extensions (e.g. GTK2) should now work with the Live CD/ a frugal install as long as a swap file is made beforehand.

Just after I finsihed doing all of that myself, you release 0.4, agh. I really appreciate all your help - you could have just said, wait a few days for the next release. But you didn't, u gave really helpful asnwers so I'm in fact learning new stuff, which is great.

Keep up the good work. I've abused this dsl connection too much recently with over 1 years worth of XP updates, so I'm gonna have to hold out on getting this for another month, which is a shame, but life.

Keep up the great work, it's good to see wonderful support for us ppl who don't have time to always google the answers.

Oh and thanks again for including stuff to keep ppl like me happy (the ability to have everything in 1 folder etc etc).

Well I didn't add any of those changes until after I had replied. It was your posts/questions that prompted me to fix/improve a couple of things so thanks for bringing those issues up  :).

It's not included but it's not exactly hard to get working either.

Right click on desktop, apps, net, browsers, get firefox flash plugin  :P

My xbox is a v1.6a w/a Xenium Ice Chip and a 160gig hdd. I run EvoX and Avalaunch as my Dashboards. I have the M8plus16 bios installed on my chip as the default.

I burned the ISO to a CDRW and it boots on my xbox with no problems HOWEVER... I can only pick the lowest resolution which cuts off the top, bottom and sides of the desktop. When I choose the 800x600, it goes to a yellow screen and seems to hang.

What do I do to correct this as I cant see everything.

do you have a widescreen, or hookup through an hdadapter? I get the same using all resolutions, but using the old rca hookup works perfect.

hope this helps

I am using the Stock Xbox SVideo Cables.

SVideo / Yellow / Red / White straight to my TV.

My screen looks like this:

Nice, didn't know you can get Flash plugins.  :)

Just wondering if there can be a MSN Mess for XDSL with GUI? That would be nice.  :)
