Wine?
« on: April 12, 2005, 01:13:00 PM »

Does XDSL dhave a wine emulator of any type?

i only ask cos i was about to install windows 98 but if i could run a windows app with a windows emulator (doesnt need to be fast just ~ the performance of a p90) i wont bother.

So will i be able to install a windows app and use a windows emu?

thnx

i have a similar desire. i have made a topic below as i wish to run cedega (winex) on xdsl, it would be pretty fast i think.

anyway i haven't had any responses and i can't find anything on the main dsl site, but i believe i saw somewhere a package for dsl that allowed debian packages to load.

i think this should allow it but someone will need to confirm it.

it doesnt need to be a dsl extension. im pretty sure if its debian compatible then it can be run as it is.

winex will run on any distribution (and I presume Xbox wise its no diffrence)

you may have to tart about adding a few odds and sods, but the tarball wil work on any distribution.

Last I read thouugh (and things may have changed a hell of a lot (its been a long time since I was looking into Xbox Linux)) there was no 3D driver, so you can forget about running anything 3D under WineX

i still don't think there is a 3d driver.

i read a while ago on here that it was possible to get a stable 30fps on half-life under winex under gentoox. i figure that would be better now with the low memory usage of dsl.

but i reckon a lot of normal window programs should be fine under wine.
