It certainly would not be just the case to replace the kernal and initrd. A lot more than that has been taken out of dsl. dsl is near 50mb where as xdsl is nearer 40mb with many things missing from xdsl that is in the original dsl distribution.
Anyway my point was that there is simply no point wasing your time trying to get xdsl to boot on the pc. Just download dsl and thats that. After all the main man friedgold has stated several times that he wants xdsl to remain a port of dsl so with that in mind I repeat what is point?

I have a 21" crt tv, and when I try to run this, it cuts off the sides of the screen. Meaning if i load firefox, I can't move the window, etc. Its set up as 640X... (Can't remember the rest of the resolution number).

Is there a way to fix this? I also have this problem with avalaunch, but its not a problem on that because its only about an inch on taht.
