i had the same problem with the new version ... SCARY on install ... the left hand screen didn't show completely ...  so I would miss 2 or 3 charactors.

Tryed 2 different TV's and finally had to use my 7 inch matcatz wide screen to see the whole screen ... and YES I went to MS Dash to make sure it was in Regular Mode (not widescreen).

Once I got through the set up I was able to adjust screen and see everything  ... but setup was a problem for me.

This wouldn't have any effect on the video in Linux. Linux is totally independent of your Xbox's settings.

i have a similar issue but mine is backwards.

1.0 xbox tsop w/ 4980 bios.

the loading screen is centered perfect on my tv  but 2/4 the way thru and then when im inside linux the entire screen is too far right.  hoc and voc dont shift the screen
there has to be a way to make linux adjust the screen left or right or up or down.

if i change HOC to anything less than 13  my screen is totally garbled and i have to log in as root and change it back or change the config file directly.

27'' toshiba.

since this is a similar issue with different xbox's and the effect is opposite... there has to be something going on.

i havent tried my svideo cable yet,, not sure if that will help.

i understood the first poster had a 1.6 xbox...

i have a 1.1 xbox and I didn't mention that in my first post in this Thread... so for me no overscan issue.

NTSC TV  both 19 inch and 13 inch  had same problem ... luckly my widescreen 7 inch LCD let me see the whole screen.

I'm thinking the person who made the program has PAL TV or maybe Wide screen.
