Original game discs, running them just like we always do.  Some games still work fine, but others, like Halo 2 and Fever 2003, freeze up at the main menu.  It's really frustrating!  I wonder what's going on.

Thanks for the reply.  I've actually been working on clearing the cache, because from reading other posts it looks like that might help.  But I've run into a little problem.

FTP'ing into the Xbox, I can clear the /mnt/E/CACHE/ folder with no problem.  Also, I was able to delete files from Y and Z.  So they are apparently empty.  For some reason, though, there are files in X, and I can't seem to touch them.  When I try to move/copy/delete/rename them, I get this message: Response:   550 Could not delete /mnt/X/P: Read-only file system

The files and folder listed under X are:  ¢É, one named 4, one named P and then one blank folder.  I have no clue what this means, but I'm unable to delete it.  I tried booting Halo 2 after deleting all the stuff but this, but I have the same problem with it freezing.

Could the files in the X portion be the culprit?  If so, any idea how I can get rid of those?  I'm able to FTP and telnet into the Xbox.

Thanks a bunch for the help!

I'm not exactly sure how, but I fixed the problem.  I guess I deleted the correct cache files or something.

Now I'm wondering... is there a better way to install Linux?  Or is there a way to avoid this problem with the cache?  Maybe I'm just doing something wrong that causes the cache to be corrupted.  Or maybe I should install Linux to the F partition instead of E?

Any ideas would be great!

its probly unrealted to linux couse linux doesent use the xyz drives. its also known that halo 2 has issues with older xbox dvd rom drives. if you play it on live it gets patched but if in your in a modded state or dont have live you just have to put up with it freezing or giving a disk error every once and a wile.
