« on: December 05, 2004, 02:27:00 PM »

My Xbox is currently sitting on a screen that says "Please insert Gentoox CD or reinsert MCE CD to skip installation.

I downloaded MCE assuming it had linux Gentoox on it!  Now, im looking for a Gentoox CD.  If anyone knows where I can get this...Please Post!!!!!!!!!!

I cant overemphasize how frustrated I am.

mce has the option to install gentoox. thats why its asking. if you reinstert the mce disk it will skip that option and boot. thats why thers gentoox mce edtion that installs both in one step.

If MCE Gentoox installs both in one step, how come it asks for the Gentoox CD?  Also, after reinserting the CD to SKIP GENTOOX INSTALLATION, and after examining the contents of the hard drive I noticed that all it seemed to do is install another evox dash on F:/

Another thing, why would someone install cromwell bios... I only did it because others did.  Without using the bios, I booted XEBIAN from CD and it works fine, although I need the CD to boot.

And yet another thing... Why in the world does Slayers have an option to install Gentoox, when it does nothing of the sort?  It tells me it needs 4 GB of HD space, so I click OK, then it says DONE. (1/2 a second later)  It does not install.

If someone could point to a REAL infallable step by step tutorial for DUMMIES I would be grateful.

Tutorial for Linux:

Step One:
Find local linux guru thru LUG (google if you dont know what LUGs are) and pay them large sums of money.

Step Two:
Spend large amounts of time in front of your PC using google or read a good book or two.

Those are the best two options.  Asking for a step by step that you will just do once and not understand how it works, how it can be broken, or how to fix is NOT the best way to go with Linux.

I have spent "large ammounts of time in front of my PC".  I am familiar with linux.  I just can't seem to get a straight answer from anyone.  And...it's kinda silly to suggest I pay "large ammounts of $$$".  Thanks for the useless post.

Why is it silly to suggest that?  You want something done that apparently, you cant do or figure out how to do.  If you find someone else to do it, would you want them to do it for free? Thats not quite right.  So, you want something done you cant do, so you find someone who can, and you pay them $$$$.  Or spend the time to read and read and read and read and read and read and once youve done that, read and read and read and read and read some more. Then maybe youll have figd out how to di what you want and you can do it yourself finally.

gentoox mce and frendteck mce are 2 diffrent installers. if it keeps asking for the cd how bought putting it in lol. also mce only uses cromwell bios. if you whant to use diffrent bios then you have to use regler gentoox. you can intall mythtv and thers some spical addons for it so it will work with the xbox controler.
