Getting X2lite Off Side Of Xbox?
« on: May 05, 2003, 04:57:00 PM »

Like topic states.
Any suggestion's for getting a X2Lite off the side of the xbox?
Need to unhook it so I can re-flash it with a Programmer.
Or is there a programmer that lets you hook up to the chip without pulling it outa the system?

try heating it up with a hairdryer, then peeling it off. that worked for the little legs of the xbox so why not the sticky chip?

doesn't the programmer go into the black pinheader thing like the matrix. You could try running jumper between the two.

I was just wondering if anyone has even actually done this so I could give him some good tips.

Yes, I suggested a hair dryer to him, but keep in mind the little feet can be peeled off withou a Hair Dryer, while doing so with the chip would proboly break it, that sticky stuff is damn strong.

I've only had to do it once.  It took some work, but it came off.

I switched mine from wires to pin header for the same reason. The coating on the back of the PCB (green) is pretty thin. Be carefull cause the sticky stuff can pull up the traces. When I took mine off, it pulled up part of a trace. Had to resolder a new trace on the back side of the PCB. Just take your time.
