I like Debian best. I find that it is really stable, with few bugs. The installer is a bitch, but the apt tool more than makes up for it. I also like the ToyStory release names. dry.gif

I too like VEctor, just didn't like the way of having to install packages, so I switched back to Mandrake.

I voted RedHat. But only because my dedicated server is running it and it's wonderful.  biggrin.gif

I've always prefered Redhat for Servers and Mandrake for workstations. But i've been using GentooX on the xbox and find it not lacking in functionality compared to Mandrake as far as X windows is concerned. I'm also liking emerge very much. No fussing around with 14 levels of manual deps.

Most software has support and installs designed for Redhat and Debian so thats why RH gets my vote.

Does RedHat have an apt-get that installs dependencies, too? I haven't used RH 9 yet. Did you know that Debian was the first distro to have packages? You know, for a while, I knew my C compiler better than I knew myself .  .  .  Edit, Compile, Link .  .  .  Edit, Compile, Link .  .  .  Link, Link, Execute .  .  .  Edit, Edit, Edit .  .  .  Way easier than seeing a shrink. Trust me.

since this is xbox LINux room ... i would have found it more helpful if Xbox Linux programs were given as options ...so i could compare what's the BEST for xbox LINUX! smile.gif
I myself like Home Edition Gentoox 2 for the xbox ... simple to install and use ... and it's plenty fast for surfing the web ...and once I found all the places to change the Font sizes so I could read them very easily ...  i feel i can NOW surf the Web as easily on the xbox as on my PC .  800x600 mode works best for me.

Yeah . . . KDE is a Desktop Environment, so you could use it on top of Debian, or Redhat, or anything. It is distro-independant.
