QUOTE (jsm @ Jul 3 2003, 03:06 AM)

Now what I want to know is why would I buy a computer to turn it into an xbox when I can already buy an xbox ? (Yes the other way analogy is wanted)

Do you have any clue how much an cheap pc sells for ? I can buy a pentium 4 1.6 for 299$ CAN. Now if I want to run linux why the hell would I buy an xbox and not that p4 PC ?

Ha! you would'nt, of coarse, but you just might be able to play that closed system software (Xbox) on another computer in emulation someday.

Also, easy enough to say, why would I buy an atari2600, and I can, when I can just play them in emulation on the xbox "computer"

To the second question... I have no idea why someone would do that...
Unless its just because they can...
which doesnt quite qualify for the logic factor but certainly for the fun factor.

there are also some legitimate uses for linux on an Xbox I suppose...
so please dont flame me for that....

This thread has REALLY drifted off topic.

Ok, we need to find these guys and string them up by their testicles.

"The software companies who are developing titles for the XBox should be very worried by the lack of protection that M$ is offering their work as exploits such as those found by our team pose a serious threat to potential sales due to the possible use of such exploits for software piracy."

We should have thier heads for this.  Scaring off game makers?  Who the fuck do they think they are?
