I used a hub before and never had any problems but I never used a KB w/ a hub....

Might be cord length, I know that at a certain length the signal doesn't reach the xbox.

I wonder if the keyboard usb hub even has powered usbs. I know my MS keyboard with USB hub didn't have powered USBs.

It's a small amount of power that is put through the signal to boost it so that longer cords will work.
