OK got debian installed but now I am at this crappy window program and I cant figure out what to do. I can get into a command line and did apt-get update and it did a lot of stuff but I cant read what. So
how can I tell if im connected to the net?

how can I get some kind of web browser?
Which distro did you install. I believe 0.3.1 has a webroswer allready. If not, just download and install mozilla I believe.
how can I get KDE?
Type "apt-get update"
Type "apt-get install kdebase" Wait and answer questions could take a long time
Type "apt-get install kdebase" (AGAIN) Wait and answer questions
Type "apt-get install kdm".. Answer all questions.
Make KDM your default videoloader (it'll ask you at the beginning and the end, select kdm both times, it is on the bottom first and on the top second I believe)
If u get errors about localhost:9999 not found, your internet connection isnt working.
