Heh, everything was 404 to stop you from patching any further while i finalised the new system.  Go back to http://gentoox.shallax.com and refresh the page.  Then read the main page and all other instructions.

Hey everyone. I'm new to this as well. I get this message.

Bringing eth0 up...
Failed to bring eth0 up

ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
     "netmount" was not started.

ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
     "sshd" was not started.

I've read that I won't be able to ssh. Is it because I don't have a dhcp server, or something isn't configured? I dunno, I get confused with the DNS and dhcp subjects. Well anyway, is that error required to be fixed? Does that prevent me from emerging since there's no connection? I'm getting the usb adaptors in the mail soon, so I'll be able to hook up a keyboard to type the login information. Will that solve anything? Thanks in advance.

By the way, the connection I use it a crossover cable from my xbox, and into the network card of my computer. And I have a USB Alcatel DSL modem. I connect to my xbox with the IP: 192.168.0.4

So is is required to have DHCP to emerge, or just to SSH?

Seems you forgot the backslash after e:

nah its E:/

was a type, other suggetions?  smile.gif

Don't know if this was answered yet (many pages after this lol) but I had the same problem

if you're using flashfxp (ass) thats the problem

it doesn't seem to like any large file so it won't transfer to the xbox (you'll see rootfs there but it will be size 0)

so use a real ftp program and transfer rootfs over and gentoo will load

SSH with the right ip... the strange artifacts on your screen can be fixed by running magic.
