You just delete "rootFS" and "Swap" from your E drive

Downloaded and installed GentooX on my E partition via FTP from Evolution-X. I run it and all I get is a black screen with no startup sounds. The light is orange (which is good). I'm on a NTSC/USA Xbox with my DVD remove receiver thingie not plugged in ( I heard it causes problems with linux sometimes). Anyone experiencing this problem? Any help out there?

Same error here. Black screen, orange light. Tried from DVD and HDD (both E:\APPS\GENTOOX and E:\), but without success. Running EvoX v1.8.3752 on a PAL XBOX v1.1 (4974 Bios).

Okay, I found this out by accident. Anyone else getting a black screen and orange light, read this:

Download boot_fatx.iso.bz2 and extract boot_fatx.iso from it. You can download it from the xbox linux sourceforge download page here: http://sourceforge.n...?group_id=54192

Burn the iso as the instructions say.

Put the burned CD in your xbox and launch the CD and it should start running through all of the linux stuff and even into Gentoox if you have it installed properly. Then it will say "welcome to gentoox linux blah blah blah"
then login using
login: root
password: xbox (this should answer your question Uziq).

But from there I don't know what to do, I'm still stuck at a prompt. So I
# emerge sync
and that does a bunch of downloads and such and it looks all cool and completes successfully. But I'm still stuck at a prompt. How do I access the GUI?! Anyone? (I'm pretty much a Linux newbie, but a seasoned veteran of the xbox modding scene, by the way)
