Installing Debian On 1.0

hey
i attempted to install debian today ( i wiped my F by accident!) however after loging in using root/xbox it just hangs with a grey screen with a white mouse on it!
Any one else have this problem?
i have tried pressing all the buttons but nothing happens! Any one have a clue how to fix?

yeah it is an X shape, however why is this?i read the tuts and it says it should launch the MSDOS prompt where i enter some stuff?
oh well...time for a new mouse then!

Um.... well, you did do apt-get install x-window-system didn't you? Thats X-windows, nothing pretty, we know.

If you get your mouse working, click and go Debian--Apps-Shells-Bash, there is your dos prompt.

May I suggest getting kde...
