4gig Installation On Game Partition?
« Reply #1 on: March 07, 2003, 04:35:00 AM »

This is what one of the xbox-linux guys told me:

"The absolute size limit for a file stored on a FATX partition is apparently 4 gigabytes, so you cannot really create loopback files bigger than that. Moreover, there appears to be a bug in the current Linux FATX filesystem driver code which artificially limits the maximum file size to 2 GB (for now.)

If you need more space right now, you could probably create another 2 GB loopback file on E: and move some of the system directories (like /home) there, instead of keeping it all inside the root partition. It is also possible to mount FATX partitions and use them directly from the Linux side, although this is not yet recommended as the FATX driver needs some more testing and debugging."

Hope it helps, I dont know how to create more loopback files so I haven't tried it.
