Smartxx V2 Direct Boot & Os Boot
« on: December 22, 2004, 12:11:00 AM »

ok basically i just want my smartxx v2 chip to directly boot my m8plus 1.6 bios with the small power on button and then boot to the smartxx OS with the eject button...i dont know why i cant get this =\

i set quickboot to boot when power is on and it only boots my m8 bios when i hit the power and eject so i have to continuously keep setting the emergency switch on the chip to bring up all default values just so i can access my smartxx OS...is anyone can explain to me precisely how they did what i wanna do please let me know...i dont know why it cant be easy like xenium ice is

set  quickboot mode to power only, and the power button bios to m8

a tip to get into the SOS after you set both options, it to hit power, then hit eject when the light turns red

there is 4 options for quick boot, none, eject only, power only, and power + eject

you have it set to the last one, you need to set it to power only

then set the quick eject bios back to original bios

The SOS will only come up using the power button (either with no quickpower mode set or with the "hit eject when red" method).

I may not have interpreted the thread correctly but the "power + eject" setting doesn't mean pressing both buttons, it means two quickboot modes (i.e. hit power and one bios bank loads, hit eject and a different one (or the same) loads). And of course you have to set those in the setup screen as well.

You can't press eject only and access the SOS which was the original question.

I load M$ off the power button.  I load M8 off the eject.  If I want the SOS I hit power and then eject when it turns red.

Oh and it is also a good idea to set the default bios to the same bank that gets booted with the power button.

I don't know why, but I've seen it do some false boots when this didn't match.  It may have been something else, maybe coincidence, but I don't need them to be different so just to be safe I set them the same.

Just FYI in case you are having similiar problems.
