My Xb Linux Experience & Help Required
« on: January 01, 2003, 01:56:00 PM »

After 10 years of Windows & PC experience,  today I decided to take the plunge into the world of XB Linux. (I never even looked at linux before today)

I followed the tutorial & did some reading to add some extra ftp source sites to the "sources.list" file as some of the correct files were missing.

Finally got the X thingy to work, did some more research and decided to update to Gnome, added some more sites to the sources file & updated to Gnome.

However, is it possible to change the resolution to anything higher than 640x480, I did attempt to edit the XF86Config file but that just screwed it up and I couldn't get it to boot into gnome again, just the root login screen (resulted in a re-install and I really can't handle the everything being so big in 640x480)

Also which is best for an all round entertainment center for mp3s & videos, KDE or Gnome or something else?

Cheers
