Xbox Hd Maker And Recovery Tool Not Booting -help!

Burn it to CD, not DVD.

There isn't a particular place where eeprom.bin should be, and the Xbox doesn't have an R partition. If you are using instructions that tell you that the eeprom should be in E:BackupMS then you should question anything else they might say, because they have clearly made assumptions that may not be true for your Xbox. You might want to have a look at the link in my signature - build a new softmod hard disk with eeprom - for an overview of a version of the process that should work in all cases.

To confirm that the eeprom.bin you have found is correct, open it with Live Info, and check the serial number against the one on the bottom of the Xbox - if it matches then it should be the right eeprom. Alternatively use Evox or Config Magic to take your own eeprom backup.

Don't use the contents of your current C and E partitions - that's why your iso is way too big, because you are using your current E partition. Build a clean version as described in the links in my signature.

here is my 20 step program..
just a note im getting tired of typing this out lol..

(im assuming your using xboxhdm 1.9 )
1. Get your Correct Eeprom.
2. make a correc xboxhdm disk as outlined above.
3. change cd/dvd on pc to slave
4. change xbox hard disk to master
5. Connect the hard disk to ide slot 1 as primary master
6. set bios to Not detect the hard disk "primary master none" (if you cant do that leave the power unplugged from the xbox hard disk when you boot up between steps 8 and 9 Untill after the bios has failed to detect the hard disk)
7. Set the bios to boot from cd 1st.
8. Power off the computer
9. power on the computer and wait till it has finished detecting hard disks
10. xboxhdm will boot. select option 1 build a hard disk from scratch
11. answer yes to the questions like Build C and E (type yes not just Y if it asks for a yes. type Y if it asks for a y)
12, WAIT (it takes ages) when its done type: poweroff
13 the pc is now off if you could not dissable the hard disk detection in the bios remove the power from it or turn on your computer proceeed to step 15
14. power on the pc and wait for the computer to finish detecting your had disks, then reconnect the power to the hard disk
15. xboxhdm will boot Select option 3
16 when you are able too type: lockhd -a
17 when its done (it will say command completed sucsessfully on screen so look fo it) type: poweroff
18. dissconnect the hard disk from the pc.
19. Put that hard disk in your xbox
20. provided the xboxhdm disk was built correctly with the correct eeprom then your xbox will now work.

You're getting Error 5 because you aren't locking the hard disk. In step 16, when you type

lockhd -a

do you get an error message?

I have a similar issue but my cd boots fine. My computer is a MSI 890GXM-G65 and I think its incompatible with Linux (I know AMAZING).

All linux versions known tried give this including the xboxhdm disc

Usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
CRASH... keyboard lights die..

I tried disabling the usb stuff but my keyboard is usb dependant and there is no other connection method. (infact I have ps/2 it seems. Might try that.)

This really has me stumped. Basically I need to rebuild this hdd but this pc aren't booting linux. If anyone finds out a solution let me know and sorry if it seems I hijacked this thread.

I doubt there is a solution but find a old pc and use that.

Nevermind, found a solution, Disable all my USB ports and use ps/2 keyboard, what a bitch but. Now to get the cd burnt right with all the software (as it didn't find anything with xboxhd command)
