Anyway To Lock A Hard Drive Using Windows?
« on: June 06, 2010, 05:02:00 PM »

I have used xboxhdm many times in the past (but not for a very long time).  I can't use it now as my computer doesn't have an IDE ports.  I do have a PCI sata card with IDE on it.  Problem, is that xboxhdm does not recognize this.  If I have the hdd key, is there any way for me to use my card (or a IDE to USB cable) to lock a hard drive?

I remember reading something awhile back about being able to lock a hdd with a program in windows, im not sure tho.  But i'll check my bookmarks and get back  to you.  But the best way(i think anyway) is with xboxhdm and ur primary ide cable. heres a link to a good video to help you learn to use xboxhdm to lock a drive with your eeprom key. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2S_0lQ4MDA...feature=related its part one of 2 and part 2 is listed next to it

Thanks for the help, but as I stated, I cannot use xboxhdm as I don't have an IDE connection (other than my pci card which xboxhdm won't recognize).  I have used xbox hdm dozens of time in the past using an older computer.

Run from Windows's Command Prompt and requires a direct IDE connection. IDE-USB will not work.
