Already Softmoded My Xbox, How To Tsop Flash?
« on: February 07, 2010, 09:28:00 AM »

Hello everyone,

I already softmodded my xbox using the disk hotswap method. xbmc is installed and it's great. Now I want to add a big hardrive, remove the dvd drive, and "slim" my case. Apparently, I need to flash my tsop to be able to do this. I have a 1.0 motherboard with an ST flash chip. I already bridged the 2 solder points as described everywhere on the tutorials and got my in-bios to flash.

But how do I flash it?!?!?!  I don't have 007:AUF nor any games at all... my xbox was given to me by a friend who tought it was damaged. I know there are special programs to flash my tsop, but I can't find any guide at all on these forums.

Any suggestions?

You can flash from Evox - just install it on your xbox, and run it as an application. You'll need to put the BIOS you want to flash in a subdirectory \BIOS\ under the directory you install Evox to.

ok, I'll do that later today since I'm at work right now. Another thing... I have this bios: iND-BiOS.5003.06.bin and it's a 256k file. I read that my flash chip NEEDS a 1MB file. I read on the tutorials section that you can use a program named x2bm to "import" the bios 4 times and generate a single 1MB bios.. is this correct?

Any suggestions for another bios are also welcomed.

iND-BIOS is a good choice. You don't need to make the file 1MB - Evox will resize it automatically to fill the chip.

Ok.. The flash worked! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  I loaded evolutionx as an app.. launched it... flashed the bios without any problems...  the xbox rebooted... indbios bootscreens come up ... and then... screen goes black  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Anyone knows why this might be happening? and how to solve it?

BTW... xbox buttons still work. When I open the dvd tray the indbios boot screen appears for a few seconds, but then it also goes black

I can almost guarantee it's because your dashboard isnt stored in the default places iND-BiOS searches.

Try adding the ind-bios.cfg to C:\ with correct paths; by booting from whatever game you softmodded with and FTPing OR using a bootdisk.

I may be joining you soon!!! Looking to move from the states to a more tranquil area without the weather patterns here. I will have to get used to more rain though. I live in a desert area.

Good luck with the TSOP. I have never done one, but have a few Xbox consoles to try it on. That is why I am following this post, learning all I can.

Do you see the flubber animation and the white xbox logo screen. If you dont see any of that something is wrong. If you do see that then your dash is in the wrong place. Ind-bios I think looks first for C:\evoxdash.xbe

@1hotjob
Flashing the tsop was extremely easy. Now that I know the correct process, it will probably only take me about 10 mins to do it again on another console. I'm just surprised there is not a single tutorial on how to do this other than with savegame hacks. I'll try to write a tutorial once this is complete (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yes, I do see the flubber, and the white indbios "Xbox" screen. Then a "loading ind-bios" screen appears and finally it all goes black. From what I read so far over these forums it seems I need to specify my dashboard on the config settings.

So now I have to boot off a cd... check where is my xmbc default.xbe file located... and configure indbios to go there and place that indbios.cfg file on the c: drive... I reeeeeeeally hope this works.

You can take the default.xbe for xbmc and rename it to evoxdash.xbe then put the entire contents of the xbmc on the root of the C: you can also format C: before hand unless you want to use the MSdash for something but I think it will have to be reinstalled anyway
