So after reading hear for a couple of hours, I've decided to use this guide
http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=496263

I do have a new question now instead.

I suspect that I need to do this on my retail drive first and then copy a couple of files to use on my new harddrive.

Can I do like this?;
I softmod the retail drive with that guide, FTP the needed files, take out my harddrive from my Xbox and placing my new one there, follow the guide once more, copy the files through FTP and then done?

Not really. Softmod the stock disk as you describe, and take a backup of the eeprom and copy it to your PC. Then, read this post, and pick one of the methods it describes, depending on which hardware you have available.

In general NTSC on PAL works fine, and vice-versa.
