Well, I dug up an old xbox to use as a media center. I had soft modded it in the past with I beleive the UXE softmod when it had first come out (It was in french).

I want to upgrade XBMC. But I am not sure if I require to sign the xbe or not? I do not want to brick this box obviously

As I recall, it used a hacked MS dash board, which would load the Pheonix bios loader, or what ever bios loader. I have no clue. Its been a good 5-6 years. The bios then loads a default.xbe I have it set to load XBMC.

Did the default.xbe need to be signed? Or was it just the bios loader that needed to be signed, and the bios prevents you from needing to sign your stuff?

I just can not remember.

You should be able to put XBMC in the E:\Apps folder and your dashboard should find it.

What dashboard are you running now? Is it running from E:\Dash or E:\Dashboard?

If so, let me know if you want XBMC as your default dash.

XBMC circa 5-6 years ago is my dashboard. It is located in E:\systeme\Dashboard\default.xbe; I put the current build of XBMC on E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe and it launches fine from the old XBMC.

I would like the current build to be my dashboard yes. I need to know if in using it as my dashboard, would it need to be signed?

UXE with PBL or UXE with nkpatcher?

With nkpatcher, you shouldn't need to sign the dash XBE.
