Xboxhdm Problems!
« on: February 02, 2020, 06:29:00 PM »

Hello a newb here with little exprience.I have a newer pc that has 1 ide slot problem is xboxhdm uses ide cd drive. My cd drive is Sata. The ide cable is primary master/slave I fully understand that a IDE dvd drive goes on the slave and the xbox goes on primary but.....i didn't backup anything and dont have a eeprom to lock if i can get past linux cd not found.I unlocked the retail hd by accident using slayers auto disk.Could i lock my xbox hardrive without a eeprom.I also read about making a eeprom reader using radioshack junk but i dont have a serial input. So these are my questions.

How could i use xboxhdm if my cd drive is sata?Dont say xboxhdm2 it flickers my screen when i get to the linux.

Could i lock my Hd without a eeprom? Thanks!

Xboxhdm needs 2 IDE ports, but neither it nor xboxhdm2 will help you - if the disk is unlocked and you don't have the eeprom xboxhdm can't magically relock it. You need to build an eeprom reader and borrow a PC with a serial port and 2 IDE ports, or fit a chip to the Xbox.

Yes, but you'd still need the eeprom or a chip. Softmodded Xboxes only work with locked disks, and you need the eeprom to lock the disk. There's no way round it - you need the eeprom and a PC that will run xboxhdm, or you have to fit a chip.

Sorry for the double quote but arnt u SUPPOSED to unlock your xbox using hotswap couldn't you use ndure to back it up using xbrowser
i found a program for xboxhdm called eeprom reader you launch it using xboxhdm.i got connected to it using xplorer360
but for some odd reason i still have to do the hotswap in order for the pc/xboxhdm to detect it.My dad has a barebone pc that he gave up on due to huge ass virus if this dont work the pc has a serial port in the back!

According to your first post you already unlocked the disk with Slayers. On that basis the problem isn't unlocking the disk, it's relocking it so the softmodded Xbox will work again - and to do that you need the eeprom from the motherboard.

Could i make my own eeprom  isnt the password that slayer uses to unlock XBOXSCENE.
On my E drive there was a file called unlock.log it said
CODE

Action_69
LogFile = e:\unlock.log
Info This will unlock your XBOX HD
Warning After you will not be able
Warning to boot an original XBOX bios
hddlockdisable
End of Log

No. The original BIOS on your Xbox doesn't use the master password, it uses the contents of the eeprom to calculate the password to unlock the disk when it boots. For that to work the disk has to have been locked with the eeprom in the first place.

It doesn't matter how many questions you ask, you have only two choices:

1. Relock the disk with the eeprom, or
2. Fit a chip.

Yes, to relock the disk with the eeprom you need to get a copy of the eeprom, but I've just had a thought - there might be a copy of the eeprom on the unlocked disk from when it was originally softmodded. Plug it into your PC, fire up Xplorer360 beta 6 (has to be that version - older ones don't work), and have a search around for a backup folder, or a file called eeprom.bin. If you used a decent softmod (Like Krayzie) it will have forced you to take a backup.

If you can't find it then you need to build an eeprom reader. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

No, the eeprom is unique to each Xbox, so an eeprom from another box is no good to you.

Ndure isn't a softmod, its the generic type of exploit. Which specific softmod did you use? SID and Krayzie are the two most common ones. Krayzie forces you to backup the eeprom, SID (certainly the older versions) doesn't. It's worth a quick look at the disk if you aren't sure - you might be in luck!

I used Ndure exploit where you make a new soundtrck for [[EggsBox]].
