Couldnt edit my last post a second time, it will still not play games for some reason it just quit...
I cant seem to find any answers, called around to all the game stops, none of wich have any xbox's for sale, one did have a memory card and a splinter cell copy so I picked them up, thats what I need to try to softmod without hotswaping right? I looked onn my HD where I backed up my xbox's C and E drives, I didnt see any eeprom.bin in there. BTW I know what eeprom is now so no need to answer the question b4.
Can I use any old HD and rebuild on it, or is my xbox just a large unsightly paper weight?
Well, I'm out... Tail between my legs and moral low.
K.1.00.5838.01
D 1.00.5960.01
And I selected 5838
I believe I did a backup with ndure I could swear it! How do I find out and use it?
That is the same kernel version that i had on my first xbox that i never got to run!
You can restore the backup if u hotswap, boots to linux with your discs, types xbrowser, run ndure.. i think it was the 4 th option "restore backup" or something like that.. Well I never got that to work myself..
When i bought my 2nd xbox i had kernel 5101 and it worked great to softmod it.
If it still doesnt work try to put the general kernel version i ndure installer and make a new boot disc, and go all thru the installation again.. I never tried this out because i got another xbox so cheap..
Or i can recommend you to get a "broken" xbox cheap somewhere, as i did.
If the xbox has not been opened the chances are big that just the laser is worn out, than you can replace it with the one from your 1st xbox.. Like i did..
Also, when softmodding, you should ground the PC chassis with the chassi of the xbox to avoid electrical shocks both for your hardware as well as for you.. I read somewhere that the ground levels between em could differ 108 V.
