Embedded Web Browser?
« on: August 08, 2004, 10:36:00 AM »

I notice the Version 2 Limited Edition Kit provides a built in Web browser:

Note the third citation in the list of SmartXX 1st's:

"1st embedded HTTP browser!"

So my question is this...
Can this feature be loaded onto the old version 1 chips?  Is it like Ed@Chip?
OK, that's two questions  :)

::sigh::

This is the same feature set that Vs1 chips have.  No difference.  Please read thru the forums here or at smartxx.com for info on the 'embedded HTTP browser'.  Its referring to the ability to update the OS, flash BIOS etc thru your web browse.

actually that's their fucked up marketing guy's fault. it's not a http BROWSER, it's a http SERVER. which is used for flashing the chip from your pc's webbrowser.

they need to fire their marketing guy. badly.

So it's not really a browser?  It just says "browser" with an exclamation point, even.

* edit * I'm toning this down a notch... it should suffice to point out that there is no embedded browser in the chip.

I think their marketing guy needs to eat the cost of re-packaging the kit since it has false and misleading advertising, then.  Shouldn't they at least recall the kit?  Maybe SmartXX will be a little more careful going forward.

...

 Recall for what?

Does anything come on that cd besides xebian? I want that controller port to USB thing, but I guess I should've waited before buying my modchip.
