Revival Of A Downed Xbox
« on: December 04, 2008, 05:32:00 AM »

So, if I read you right, you have a xbox with an unlocked harddisk, and you don't have the eeprom backup.

In that case, you only have 2 options.

1. Temporary install a modchip so that you can boot the xbox with an unlocked disk.
It will also allow you to get the eeprom.bin contents.

2. Build yourself an eeprom reader, again with the purpose to get the eeprom.bin contents.

Maybe you are thinking about a third method which would involve desoldering the eeprom to reprogram it on an external programmer?

Be aware of the fact that there are 3 different eeprom types which are not interchangable.
The chips are the same, but the way it's contents are coded is different.

You have the 1.0   the 1.1 till 1.5 and the 1.6 and 1.6b eeprom layout.

If you have your own xbox eeprom contents, you don't need those of your friend.
(Unless yours was banned on Live, and you want to revive that.)

regards.
