Issue With Softmod (can't Find Answer By Searching)

Once the drive is unlocked put it in the pc then boot the pc have you tried that

yeah, i tried that by connecting power to xbox hdd with xbox power - turning on, waiting for error 12, unplugging ide. then plugging in pc ide cable, then turning on the pc and letting it post with the hdd still powered from the xbox - but still no joy.

are you using the correct plug on the ide cable

Yeah - found the problem

it seems my mobo/bios would not recognise anything plugged in after post, and if it didnt find anything in primary master, it just diabled the ide channel.

so i had to boot the xbox and pc up in such a way they were both on, unplug the xbox ide and swap cables while the pc was on, but before it posted... as i had to power the hdd from the pc, else it didn't work either.

i reckon i nailed it on the 101st time, and with help from other people in the office!

i'm now copying ndure files accross i think!
