Restore Softmod?

I have softmodded (using XboxHDM and hotswap) Xbox.

Today I decided to make XBMC my default dashboard, following instrustions in this topic. But I made a mistake -- rename .cfg file to deaflut.cfg instead of default.cfg. After reboot nor XBMC, neither UnleashX doesn't load, but loads MS Dashboard, and I can't access my Xbox by ftp.

Is there any way to fix this problem, may be some kind of Xbox boot disk? I need just rename one file.

Or I have to hotswap hardrives again? (It's problem, because I don't have regular PC -- only laptops).

Thanks.

1. Backup eeprom and ftp to PC if you don't want to do hotswapping again. Link in my sig.
2. If your file changes are referring to e:\dash , try cold-booting from Frosty's xbox rescue disc. If it boots correctly, use the file manager function to rename the file.
3. You can always test dash changed by relaunching the particular dash from file manager without rebooting first.

ldotsfan, thanks for advice.

I fix my Xbox, but a bit another way.

I downloaded Frosty's xbox rescue disc, but at the moment I have no computer with DVD-RW drive. But in description for Frosty's disc I read about ftp-feature running from disk, that gives me an idea.

Then I downloaded Slayer's evox auto-installer, burn it to CD-R and boot Xbox from it. It starts ftp-server, and I had access to my Xbox drive. Rename wrong file, and everything becomes fine.

Frosty's and Slayer's have the same ftp capability via Evox as they are both Evox boot discs. Anyway good to hear you got it working beerchug.gif
