Buggy After Softmod
« on: February 03, 2020, 08:32:00 AM »

I did a softmod by hotswap with  my modded xbox and everything worked fine, i have evox up and going on the new xbox. The problem is it is buggy, especialy when looking for directories. I had dsl up and running now it says it can not find it, the path has not changed and i verified it in the ini file , it is correct.

Also xbmc does not display the video of an mp4 file just audio?

My modded xbox I have had for years works great and never acts like this, any one have any ideas?

Hi,

it might help if you would tell us what softmod you are using?

In your case, I would try another dashboard like unleashx.

Clearing the cache partitions and the cache folder on the E partition also might help.

Some application hae difficulties to run when the E partition is almost full.

There is also a small change that something got damaged during the hotswap.
So, take a backup of the xbox eeprom chip and ftp it over to your pc.

Is the version of xbmc the same on both xboxes?

regards.

The e drive has close to 4 gigs left of space.

Which softmod? not sure, since i did xbox to xbox swap I used one of the top ones recomended here, I would have to look when i get home. I know there wasn't much guidance on xbox to xbox swap, many xbox to pc swaps.

Backed up eprom as soon as evox was up(always backup).

And using same version of xbmc, pulled it staright of of modded xbox, but did notice skin was difrent, had project mayhem II skin for some reason, never had that on modded, so most have merged file contents, maybe I should try reloading that one.

Hi,

I still would recommend to try a dashboard like Unleashx.
In my case, ftp transfers where much faster with it.

Maybe you transferred a wrong version of Xbmc. It is also possible that Xbmc stores some of it's information in a gamesave folder on the E partition. The skin it uses could be part of that information. You can check the Xbmc version somewhere within the dashboard itself.

You can run the Unleashx dashboard as an application from within your Evox. Doing it that way, you will minimise the possibility of ending up without a working default dashboard.

If you only encounter problems on specific partitions, you could try to backup and reformat them. It is possible that the partition file system became corrupt. You can even do that with your C and E partition, as long as you ftp everything back to them before you reboot the xbox.

regards.

You might want to upgrade to Ndure which is the most recent softmod and is more stable than UDE2.
