Hard Drive Question

1. Is your xbox already softmodded?
2. Does your compaq have 2 IDE connections?
3. If it's not already modded, it's advisable to softmod it first and do the hdd upgrade at a later stage. After the successful softmod, you can backup your eeprom which is needed to lock the new hdd to the xbox.
