I have one such converter.  If I could get the software you people have, I would happily test it.  If you want to upload it to my server, just PM me and I'll set up an account and give you login details.  I would love to help in any way I can.  I am excellent at bash scripting too, if that can help.

The tool's thread can be found here, you are welcome to test it. Please feel free to enhance the scripts with dialog , not sure if SLAX comes with that too.

obcd, kingroach and myself were discussing the merits of migrating it into FreeDOS actually.

I will test tonight.  I am almost certain Slax comes with "dialog" as it is part of the core command line utilities, but then again I haven't used Slax in 2 years or so...

FreeDOS is a great OS, and with the use of 4DOS... even better!  If you do make the conversion, let me know as I am good with 4DOS scripting as well as with bash.

If you do make the conversion, let me know

1. Do you know if there's any DOS driver for SATA/IDE adapter?
2. Do you have experience with HX Dos Extender?

1.  If the BIOS supports it, so will dos.  AFAIK, there are no SATA drivers for pure dos.  The manual for the SATA/PATA adapter said no driver is necessary.
2.  I do not have experience with the HX dos extender.

BTW: FreeDOS does not have an LBA48 driver, Nor can it use larger than 32GB partitions (BEWARE, writing to a point beyond the 127GB boundary WILL wrap to the beginning of the drive! ).  Look here: http://fd-doc.source...and_Drivers/583

IMHO, HDM should stick with Linux because of the lack of capability of FreeDOS for larger hard drives (unless you feel like coding it in)  wink.gif

I concur with the list of limitations you have listed. Awaiting your testing results as well as the feasibility of the dialog enhancement to the scripts...

I have to get another adapter.  The adapter that I have doesn't have a jumper for selecting master/slave so it just takes over the entire cable.  I am ordering the new one this week.

SLAX 6 http://www.slax.org/ is found to be suitable. The shell scripts modifications are done. I'll highlight the important lines below:

I used CentOS 5.4 i already installed under Parallels Desktop for another project

To run qemu, hda to change based on menu choice.
CODE

 qemu -hda /dev/sda -cdrom /mnt/hdc/linux.iso -boot d

That allows me to reinstall my XBOX HD from my Mac !!

Thanks a log ldotsfan you save my day  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)
