Xbox Non-modded Really Fucked Up!
« on: March 17, 2008, 02:52:00 AM »

Hi,

try to power your xbox with the exploitable game in the dvd drive. If it boots the game, you can try to install the game exploit again.

if this doesn't work anymore, you will need to fix the harddisk. If you have a backup of your xbox eeprom (eeprom.bin) it can be done fairly easy with the xboxhdm and kingroach ndure 3.1 package.

there is no need to use a bunch of four letter words in this forum. This wont help you any further.
Admid you messed up your xbox yourself, and don't blame it on microsoft or the guys who developped the modding tools.

If you don't have the eeprom.bin, your options are limited:

1. Temporary install a modchip to get that file.
2. Build an eeprom reader to get that file.
3. Do a hotswap. This can damage your harddisk, your xbox or your pc. You only need a set of Torx screwdrivers to open your xbox. Thats why a lot of people choose for this method.

regards.

Thanks for replying. Anyhow I backed up my hardrive right before it died. However, I was going to format my xbox hd when it was connected to my pc and I accidently formatted the pc hd too. However, I didnt format the whole drive, I was using the hdprepare from the xbox - scene site and I used zeroing only first 4069 sectors of partitions option. So I hope the data that is on that drive can be recoverable. Other than that I wrote down the hd key right before it crashed. I also have a backup of my other xbox that is on my removable hd.

I hope that I can recover that data somehow! If not, then when and how would I use hotswapping? I have an idea of what it is because I read about it on some sites before but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. Would it be swapping the pc hd with the xbox hd right before the pc bios detects the drives? Once Again Thanks!

Hi,

You should boot your pc from a cdrom with the xboxhdm linux distribution on it. So, you don't connect your pc harddisk at all. You need 2 ide ports on your pc. the master ide is used to connect the xbox harddisk and the slave ide is used to connect the cdrom.

I am not using the hotswap method myself, so I can't give you more detailed information about it.

I am confident now that I can recover the xbox eprom.bin and all the other important xbox files from the hardrive I formatted. Today, I used Disk Internals NTFS Recovery software to scan my formatted hd and it found the xbox files all of them! SWEEET! So, I tried to save the files to my working hd however you have to enter a serial( typical ). I at least now know that my xbox data is recoverable so I'll find a free or trial version of a another hd recovery program to use so I can actually save that data. Then I'll use the xboxhdm you typed about.

                                                       Thanks for the help!  biggrin.gif
