Hi,
the 1.0 xboxes don't show an error code with their error screen. That makes it a bit difficult to know what is going wrong. You could for instance have an error 5 (harddisk not locked) or an error 6 (harddisk locked with a wrong password.) Some softmods install a virtual eeprom that also has the eeprom.bin filename.
So, maybe you could check your eeprom.bin and locking password with the liveinfo beta 3 program. It will show you information about the eeprom.bin file and it will also tell you if the harddisk is locked.
You could also verify the disk contents with the xbplorer360 program.
You can use the kingroach ndure 3.1 softmod together with the xboxhdm package. You must start with an unmodded M$dash on the disk. You can extract the files from the slayers rescue package.
I don't understand why your new harddisk appears frozen on your computer. If it is a normal pc pata drive (unlocked), it should be recognised by the bios without problem. Are you sure it wasn't used in a xbox before?
