if you can't hotswap anymore, you have 2 options left.

1. Install a modchip to extract the xbox eeprom contents.
2. Build or buy an eeprom reader to extract the eeprom contents.

Maybe the xbox dvd rom is having trouble with your backup media. You could try your dvdrom in your friends xbox and see if that doesn't boot backup media. If it does, you can try running the slayers rescue disk to ftp to the harddisk. You could surely use it to backup your eeprom.

Did you check the original dashboard version before you started the softmod?

It might still be possible to fix it with a hotswap. I have no experience with hotswapping and the moments it can be done. It might be wise to have a xboxhdm disk with the stock M$dash files on it, so that you can reformat the drive C and E partition. You can extract those files from the slayers rescue package Iso with a program like Qwix.

you can hotswap again and choose restore C drive backup.. after you done that use a game to update the dahboard in xbox and then run it again.. but choosing option "2" shouldnt give you no space error since it erases the C drive before copying..
