Ndure And Error 16?

What about error codes?

The Xbox HD DOES NOT unlock when your xbox boots into an error 6 or 7. The drive is usually unlocked for a short period on Xbox Errors 11, 12, 13, 16, & error 21, but Errors 11 & 12 are the preferable errors to do the hotswap.   (Taken from Textbook's stickied tutorial)

The reason why my xbox has error 16 is because it used to be chipped, and I must have changed the original dashboard.  Since I don't have the original dashboard, is it still possible to softmod?  Also I don't know the kernal version, but there is an option for unknown kernal in 3.1, can I be confident in that option?

its fixable.. error 16 means you dont have any dashboard in the drive + xbox is clock looping. If you can hotswap, just install a full setup of Ndure 3.1, it should boot ok. Just use generic kernel as kernel version.

use option "2" when installing.. since you dont have necessery files in the hard drive, option 1 will give you error.

Damnit

I'm getting error 5 now, which is not unlockable.  I've forced an error 12 by unplugging the power to the dvd drive, but xboxhdm then tells me it can't find linux image: isolinux/fatximage (or something close to that).  Am I officially screwed?

Hi,

it might help if you could tell something more about the setup.

error 5 on the xbox means that the hardisk is unlocked. It cann only be fixed if you have the xbox eeprom.bin file, so that xboxhdm can relock the harddisk with the correct password.

how is your setup when you connect the harddisk to your pc? Are you having a pc with 2 ide controllers? Is the harddisk connected to the master ide controller and the cdrom to the slave? Did you disable the hdd auto detection in the pc bios?

regards.

Or he can unplug the yellow DVD power cable to force the XBox into an error 12, and then do the hotswap. Error 12 will unlock the HDD, and you can use XBoxHDM to rebuild it. Always works for me.
