ok so i have a 80gig Hard drive i bought today. i have looked and it is lockable(whatever that means) yea i know im a newbie to this but what ever. one problem is i dont have any of my orignal xbox files(i know you cant give me any). i cant ftp. i can open my computer and install the hard drive from the original xbox on to it. i want to change the dash board and all of that. but at this point i cant even run the xbox( duhhhh no xbox files) if people can give me links on how to do this stuff i can figure it out. im pretty smart. thanks/

Hi,

first check out how you can reach the usual places.

try to locate a bunch of software packages.

xboxhdm
kingroach ndure 3.1
qwix
slayers rescue package
liveinfo beta 3

decide how you wish to mod your xbox:

-modchip
-eeprom reader http://forums.afterd...view.cfm/357863
-hotswap
-gamesave exploit.

the software packages I summed before are for the hotswap and eeprom reader method.

check out what material you need for that method of modding:

-modchip a modchip (obious) + soldering experience and tools
-eeprom reader a bunch of components and a bit of knowledge from electronics
-hotswap a bit of luck
-gamesave exploit an original exploitable game and a memory device that is recognised by the xbox. A method to get the gamesave on that memory device which varies depending on which device you use.

ok. so i have been looking at more tutorials. I still have a few im sure stupid qusions. with slayer auto installer,(or AID) do you have to have a modded xbox already? or do you burn it to a disk and pop it in. also i have a hard drive that had the game save exploit done on it a few years ago and it is dead now. i was wondering if using the slayers rescue pack would make it work again. I dont really want to get a mod chip but i will if i have to. thanks a bunch.!

ok thanks. i guess i will get the no solder modchip. whats the chance of screwing the xbox while instaling it? thanks a bunch guys BTW.

EDIT: sorry guys. what is the easyist mod chip to install in your opinoion? i want a non solder one obveously. i just want to install it to run unsigned disks(backups/ slayer or aid) is this easy? gimmie links???
i have V 1.0 xbox BTW. im pretty sure that matters right??
i also have a V 1.5 xbox mother board. this is the mother board that had the fried hard drive that was soft modded. im not sure if it works. i will check later.

hey thanks. but i think i will just hotswap. once i hot swap what can i do with the files to mod it? i am going to just copy the files into a 80 gig hard drive so i can use xbox2dvd. i just want to know what you guys suggest to do. also can someone give me a link to slayers rescue pack download. i might have a HDD from a game exploit that might be savealbe with that. thanks a bunch guys.
